Z4 vs Z4 II: the steering wheel

I found from different spyshots I've already seen, the aluminium part of the new steering wheel quite cheaper giving a global poor impression.

I think the new aliminium part is:

- brighter: the material seems cheaper
- shorter: they stop on the edge of the steering wheep compared to the old one that was part of the "circle" giving a dynamic impression
- they have black parts inside that give a poor impression
- scultures are less smooth and classy

But maybe am I wrong...

Which steering wheel do you prefer ?

Re: Z4 vs Z4 II: the steering wheel

The overall impression is much better on the new model…and those black parts on the steering also has the E85, when it got multifunction…

Looks much better without…

How can you compare visual quality when you have a crap spyshot on one hand and a studio shot on the other ?

I specially choosed an e85 photo that is not very good: compare with Ree's pictures: they're 10 times better with a perfect light.

Give me a studio shot of the e89 and I'll put it here !

I didn't find such crapy shoot of the e85...

Can't you tell the differences between both with these pictures ? that the aluminium panels are shorter ? that the material is not the same ? the sculptures ? the black center ?

But of course we're faaaaaaaaaar for scientific comparison...

Re: Z4 vs Z4 II: the steering wheel

New wheel looks great. BMW is really putting together a buttoned-up look for their cabins that takes the learnings of the Bangle generation of interiors and and refines them with a visual comb that is truly beginning to rival Audi.

That's impressive, given the general feeling of "bold, but cheap" that BMW interiors had only about 4 years ago. The X3 was the absolute low point, but the new X5/X6, 7er and now Z4 are indicating a very bright future for BMW cabin quality.

Re: Z4 vs Z4 II: the steering wheel

I LOVE the interior which seems very luxuous, original and sporty, the only weakness that frightens me is the steering wheel and that's the point of this thread but maybe I haven't seen enough to make a judgement...

Re: Z4 vs Z4 II: the steering wheel

Well, you shouldn't mak a judgement at all. Make it when the car has been released or at least wait for official pics....

Anyways, can't a mod merge this thread into the new Z4 one?? A whole new thread like we have now about this is IMO very silly.
