Thanks guys. No, honestly, never read part I, and we posted the information based on our sources. It would have not been to smart to post the info we read from here and then come back and brag, right?

This one of the few forums we actually signed up on, just because it was brought to our attention before and we linked to a few topics on here.

Anyway, once again, thanks for the welcome

Great forum

Im the one who is waiting for E89 a lot... I sold my TT a few months ago and wanted to buy Z4, but I was told new Z4 will be in shops in less than one year time, so it would not be smart to buy E85 now... I can't wait to see official pictures of new Z4 , its going to be an awesome car

Ive seen there on this forum are a few people who has a lot of info about new Z4 ... so question for you, which engines can we expect in start of production - probably 3.0 R6 bi turbo and others are? 2.5 R6 , or even 2.0d bi-turbo ? Now with current gas prices, this engine would be interesting choice... I currently got E60 530d and its great engine, fast, quiet and with low fuel consumption...

Had a meeting with product development regarding the new Z4 today .
These meetings are frequent especially when getting to work on the marketing of the car by using what atributes the car has to reflect this in the internal marketing.

The car is brutally gorgeous , sitting beside a current model , the new car is does make the E85 dated in which I thought that was not physically possible given the individual appearence of the current car .
Anyway the new Z4 has more surface than the current car for a better appreciation you should look at the H2R Roadster Concept for a better understanding on the surface design. The new model has a very taut and purposeful look and is wider than the outgoing car . The wider track is of course now beneficial to all Roadster models both in development and for the future. You do get the low down roadster feel sitting a few inches form the ground again as like in the current car - Apparently customers like this .

Interesting to discover the front bonnet is completely aluminium as is a new chassis using combined steel and aluminium especially within the front and rear suspension , This idea is to compensate for the folding hardtop in which the framework of the hardtop is of lightweight aluminium. covered with lightweight steel Which contributes a great deal to the handling and agility of the new car.

Now with the launch scheduled for later this year , the car will finish it's FEP programme by hot weather testing in the USA accompanied by a film crew in which the marketing will feature a development segment,
In which time we will be

to Australia , South Africa , North Africa , New Zealand , LA , Miami and the UAE for the fim and photography shoot .

The quotes I was given relate to : "The design might be evolutionary but everything underneath is revolutionary" This is a true sports car .

Current Z4 sales in US are real bad. Only 524 were sold in Feb and they had major discounts on them. Right now one can get a very good deal on a Z4.

Hopefully the new one will capture the market.

Of course they have driven both versions - since both versions were tested. But that not necessarily means both versions will get in production as well.

Note the E92 case: both versions were tested - softtop & hardtop: to see the difference in driving dynamics. The testing results helped the engineers to tweak the hardtop version to perform as much dynamic as possible - compared to softtop.

And same case happened in Z4 case.

That's the explanation my birdies gave me.

Btw: US sales are not that bad - especially when compared to the direct competitors, and considering the fact Z4 E85 is in its last year of production.

YTD Jan - Apr 2008 sales:

TT (coupe incl.): 1,560
SLK (hardtop): 2,049
Z4 (coupe incl.): 2,680
Boxster + Cayman: 2,435

The idea of offering a hard and a soft top is redundant. Customers wouldn't care much for the "gesture" and would end up getting confused by the choice of a hard-top, coupe and a soft-top.
