I honestly believe BMW has some serious problems.
There seems to be a lack of leadership or direction in the last 3 months or so..

Hmm...Why Yokohama?

First the press release was delayed due the sDrive(35) registration issues.

Now it seems there's no need for a hurry since the production in Regensburg plant will be stopped from 2nd week in December till 2nd week of January.

Initially the E89 production start was scheduled for early December. Now with the production halt everything is pushed into 2009. Consequently the press release is pushed into the future as well.

Initial plans: sDrive registration finished in October, press release in November, production start in December.

Now it seems everything has been delay for a few weeks. Blame the crisis (and Yokohama as well)!

Because they were the ones to have a trademark on Sdrive...

But it finally didn't change anything... BMW now have the trademark and they release nothing...

I don't blame Yokohama or the crisis...

I blame BMW

This thing is turning into negative marketing...

Re: Next generation BMW Z4 E89 - part II (first FEP pics incl. !!!)

As announced all priority is now on Project-i and Efficient Dynamics.
As for the LA Show we showed the promise back in 2006 with the World Introduction of the new BMW X5 and Hydrogen 7 but our research found we would probably have been better off releasing these models alongside the 3er Coupe and X3 facelift at Paris.

LA is right in the middle between our largest show of the year (either Paris or Frankfurt) and the first show of the year (Detroit). So effectively we will now use this show for our North American division to showcase what was released then in this case the priority is the new 7er , 3er and the Active Hybrid twins aswell as production models of US bound 3er and X5 diesels to the US Market.

Our absolute World Premiere in LA is focused solemnly on the MINI-E as our trial begins in the USA first. MINI-E is the first product under Project-i and at Geneva next year we will see a 1er under Project-i. A full hybrid BMW. Focus currently is on the MINI-E and then we will get back to the core models of the new MINI Cabrio and then the next phase of the MINI CrossOver Concept . What is happening with MINI now is the focus to introduce key models that make the MINI flexible and offer more than just what is can be done with the brand . So there is great emphasis on taking the brand further and making future MINI models very adventurous.

For within BMW there is the desire for the new Z4 to be introduced as a "European Sports car" The delay on the car is down to the recently pending patent crisis . Each Z4 model shot on film had either focus or zoom on the badge sDrive, If the decision had been reversed you are looking at digital removal and shredding and disposal of marketing materials. It takes weeks to work into a pipeline for a new model launch , we had to stop and wait.

Right now the vanity projects are on Hiatus but the recently cancelled CS Concept could be reborn except smaller and presented as an additional 3er model to rival the Audi Sportback instead of the upper luxury segment.

Next year our key model focus will be the Progressive Activity Sedan.
Wrongly accused as an R-Klasse clone and an MPV. PAS is seen within BMW as a new take on a luxury sedan offering greater flexibility without sacrifcing the core elements of a BMW.
