First the press release was delayed due the sDrive(35) registration issues.

Now it seems there's no need for a hurry since the production in Regensburg plant will be stopped from 2nd week in December till 2nd week of January.

Initially the E89 production start was scheduled for early December. Now with the production halt everything is pushed into 2009. Consequently the press release is pushed into the future as well.

Initial plans: sDrive registration finished in October, press release in November, production start in December.

Now it seems everything has been delay for a few weeks. Blame the crisis (and Yokohama as well)!

No, I don't think that's correct. It takes longer than that for the cars to hit the market I believe. I don't know when the car will be available to the public, but I'm pretty sure these first batches will be press cars, dealership demos ect...

My dealer told me its available for sale in March 2009 but he had not seen any pics yet.

Speaking of Marketing, someone should explain to me why, if the production date is delayed, the revealing must be delayed too... We don't care about backoffice ! 1 month more between the PR and the avalability is not important at all... Everything is ready, lawyers have given their green light, Scott's material is ready to be broadcasted and to keep a lot of client's attention and... nothing !

I thought we learn in marketing class that it's important to occupy the field, to give to potential customers something to wait for, instead of jumping on the facelift Boxster or the new 370z but that's not what we learn at BMW...

Among the new Z4 potential buyers, quite nobody knows a new car will be released in a few months... But they're all looking at the new 2.9l 255 HP Porsche Boxster which was announced for today and which was presented today.
