I'm sorry that my first post is a neagtive one but ...

...these two...ergh...thingies...are just ugly, i'm pretty sure "even" a woman designer can do beter :p

and I don't want to make a point (hello, klier)

Aren't we past the point as a society that it matters if a woman or a man designed something? Half the stuff you use in daily life are probably designed by women, clothing, cellphones, tvs, etc.. I for one love that BMW takes a very multinational/world approach to its bussiness incorporating people from different ethnicities, religions, etc.. not because it wants to look diverse but because these people do their job the best they can do, regardless of what they look like!

I hope you're not directing your post towards mine, as I did my best to show it was 2nd degree

for me, would it be a woman, man, ET, or other green being I'm hoping that the Z4 designer did a great job :90's roadster exterior with TT2 interior :p

or, if I should put it otherwise, a wiesman that normal people can buy

It's just great to see a female getting a chance to design exterior of BMW sports car. It never happened before. Not even many BMW interiors have been penned by a female hand.

Yet automotive exterior design is still more like a male fortress ... And it's nice to se female also becoming part of it.

It's a bit different than "women for women" projects - which indeed are sexist attempts. D'uh ... It's like saying: "We the f..k do all those female customers want from us? What should we do? OK, lady designers ... you are women, and you understand 'female things' - go and design a car for female customers. That will do it."

Although not many such products got a green for production in the end.

Regarding Mrs. Allen - did she pen that pick-up, or just supervise the design process. Since I know her more as a chief of design of Nissan US Design Studio.

It's like saying Verena Kloos designed something - since she is director of BMW DesignWorksUSA studio. Not the case ...

I don't mind a women designing the Z4, as long as the car doesn't turn cute like the SLK I'm all for it.

I think there's too much hype going on right here for a simple fact.
There was an internal competition between BMW designers and Juliane (who's just a part of the design team) won. Simple as that

And that exactly is my point: her idea/project won the internal competition.
She wasn't designated to the project due here sex. Nor that was the case for her victory. So, no "woman for women" stunt etc.

I think we all can agree that there is no hype but rather a question as to why there should be one...
