Yupp. Considering that the current Z4 2.5 weigh 1 345kg a 35i version of the new one will easily exceed the 1 400kg mark. For comparison the 335i weigh 106 kg more than the 325i.

The current Z4 3.0Si is 1,385 kgs and if BMW want to gain in sportiness they will have to put it on a diet. From what I have gathered BMW wants to move away from the comfort orientation in the current Z4.

This picture should be placed in the office of every decision-maker of every part of BMW.

Just to remind them of what way of thinking it was that made the company what it is today.

I actually think it's the opposite. The Z4 is already a sport roadster and putting a hardtop folding roof will certainly pull it towards the opposite direction. With big effort they can make it light but that will require extensive use of aluminum and magnesium which would jack the price up to new heights.

Well, we will have to see then. I think the current Z4 is not sports oriented enough and that BMW needs to make a move in that direction with the next Z4.

I guess that if BMW are sincere in their speak about efficeient dynamics, an extensive use of light weight materials is inevitable, as is a higher price.

Exactly.

BMW will not get away with emulated driving pleasure like in the X6. The next Z4 will need to be good for real.
