A roadster with a box-o-spanners in the engine compartment? Heaven forbid. Glorious flame-fired sixes are all that Beemer's roadsters ever need.

^ The motoring world we live in is already diabolically imperfect. Why cock it up further with a diesel roadster? Sheesh, what next - electric hybrid supercars...?

Re: Next generation BMW Z4 E89 - part II (first FEP pics incl. !!!)

Why the discomfort from diesel? Have you not seen or heard about the latest diesel found in the BMW 1er hatch and Coupe?

It would not be anything special if it did not win it's category in the recent engine awards would it.
Maybe you are in a country where they do not sell this model for reasons of economy but it is a very exciting car especially in the BMW 123d Coupe there is good performance (204PS)that mates especially well with the 1er Coupe's dynamics and it is as of now the mainstay of BMW's highest priority- highly efficient .

Coupled with the new generation chassis of the next Z4 it will offer an exciting compromise normally not found in this segment.
Unfortunately some peoples perceptions cannot be changed with such concepts but overall they are the people missing out.

The main focus will be on the top end of the range BMW Z4 in Orion Silver metallic paint with folding hardtop and six cylinder Twin-Turbo , All the technology etc..
Which is the model being shown in previews to dealers , focus groups etc...
But the Z4 will offer both roof options . Although there are a lot of lightweight materials used in the next car , BMW know the car to beat is the Boxster whilst a hard top is important in marketing terms a soft-top we found appeals to enthusiasts as we learned about the Boxster drivers - They just want handling and performance the roof becomes second nature.

Z4M needs a new high rev 6cil M engine that screams like there is no tommorrow.

V8 lump is nice for america muscle cars.

and F1!

Not to imply that there is much in common between a F1 V8 and it's civilian brethren, but to characterize the only apt place for all V8s is in a muscle car is absurd. As long as it revs to high heaven and screams like a wounded animal, I don't care how many cylinders it has.

The only super-rever architecture is the V10.

What do you mean? I believe The V8 in M3 actually revs higher than the V10 in M5/M6.
