New Z4 spotted in sleepy town of Lichtenburg South Africa:

Wheels24 reader Evert Haywood captured a trio of heavily disguised BMW X3s and the all-new Z4 roadster due for imminent release, in sleepy Lichtenburg, North West recently.
"They were really upsetting the traffic in such a small town," Haywood said, "trying to stay with each other but looking as though they had no idea where they were going."
Also spotted by Haywood were three samples of the next-generation X3, which is also expected to be revealed in 2009 for introduction in 2010 and offer some stiff competition for segment newbies - the Audi Q5 and Mercedes-Benz's GLK.

You're not the only one man. I'd take the coupe in a heartbeat.

It depends if you want to drive on the track, then you can join me to this list.
But my guess is that you won't, and that neither of you have driven roadsters for extended periods of time to know how good it feels.

No, becuase in Sweden we only have warm weather like 3-4 months in a year so its pretty pointless to drive a convertible here. But still, it doesnt change the fact that I like the Coupe design over Z4 Roadster and you dont need extended time of driving to think so.

Track is a difinite. I'm only like an hour or two away from some of the best tracks on the west coast (Laguna Seca and Infineon...well Thunderhill as well), and if I had the car I'd be there at least once every 2 months or so. I used to track my E36 M3 when I had it.

As for driving roadsters. Well, I'm not to fond of soft-top convertibles. That's why I've always stated that if I were to ever buy a convertible it would be a hard-top, but I prefer coupes any day of the week.

Yes the Z4 coupe is beautiful, reminds me of bullit's mustang for some reason. And the Z3 coupe is also very beasty like and desirable. Don't get me wrong Just_me I respect your opinion.

Also, for cars with stiff suspension, big rims, and driving/tracking on tarmac, there is no contest that the coupes are also supperior and will take more pounding.

But for driving very long holiday routes in Europe from country to country, under the sun, it can't get much better than a roadster.

One needs to own both.

I agree with you. But regarding soft top vs. hard top, I don't think there is that much difference, the rigidity is compromised in both cases.

I was at Laguna Seca once, did the track as a passenger, quite a chicane there!
Spent the rest of that day at autocross Monterey also, you guys are lucky to have that in the US.

In April I did a trip in California and we weren't faraway from Lacuna Seca track.

PS We went to visit Carmel, what a cosy and beautiful little town. I can understand why C. Eastwood lives there

I think there will be a coupe version of the Z4 real soon and i think thwe Tii/PP line for the Z4 will be introduced at the same time.
