But BTT. Let's start another E89 (Diesel) vs. 988 (Diesel) discussion in two and a half years .

![]() | Re: Next generation BMW Z4 E89 - part II (first FEP pics incl. !!!) The sportiest car in that segment is the X6, by a mile. Then we have the X5 and maybe Cayenne on shared second place Let me guess for the 998 too, while we're at it...some ripped VAG diesel again? Like Porsche being too cheap lately to develop a new unique platform for the Cayenne Mark II, or using Diesel engines from Audi Edit; 998...but I see you wrote 988....what's 988? The next gen Boxter?

Read a lot of tests and no Bimmer SAV (neither the X6 nor the X5) was able to beat the Cayenne GTS. And you know that I really like BMWs. OT: Yes, 988 is the 987 successor. Ppl are also talking about a 981-name. Let's wait and see ... Porsche plans to implement a 4-pot engine into the 988 / 981 platform. History repeats itself . They are also talking about Diesel engines .Edit: Just a sample comparison Cayenne GTS vs. X6 (also read a lotta other comparisons) > German http://www.autozeitung.de/auto-x-tre...he-cayenne-gts > Englisch (via Babelfish) http://de.babelfish.yahoo.com/transl...C3%9Cbersetzen Edit2: Right now we're discussing (in a Porsche board) it PAG really wants to implement 4-pot TFSI / TDI engines (the 90 degree V6-engines are way too huge for a mid-engine car). I hope that they will do it NOT - ppl will buy TTs instead of Boxsters. It's also possible that Porsche develops a 4-pot boxer engine (based on the current 6-pot boxer). No one knows it they will also develop a 4-pot boxer diesel (probably they rebadge the Subaru engine - just a rumor (hopefully - oh my gosh) ).

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Next generation BMW Z4 E89 - part II (first FEP pics incl. !!!) Eniiii I won't offend you ... you say that we can't compare a Cayenne GTS (405 HP) with a X6 xDrive 50i (408 HP)? BMW needs a X6M to beat the GTS? C'mon - you're kidding me, right . I remember Scott stating that the X6 will be the '911' of the SAV-segment. According to this (and based on technical and pricing facts), Cayenne GTS and X6 xDrive 50i ARE comparable. BTW - there's still a Cayenne Turbo (S) around ... waiting for competitors. But now - BTT ![]()

What makes GTS so special is not the engine but everything else. Some sort of X6 with M or performance package would more a direct rival to GTS. Right now the comparison 50i vs GTS is not very fair. Since the 50i is a regular model, while the GTS is much more performance oriented & tuned. PS: be sure next generation GTS will be closer to M outputs. ![]() |

If all those damned SUV:s was built like the Le Mans then I would almost approve of them. From what I know that one is not just really fast (important but not most important) but also quite involving to drive (very important!).
