Unless it's an M car, it will not receive a LSD. Whether that's a good or bad thing, that can be a whole other thread on its own

Yes. The reason why I mention the 335, is because here in Europe it doesn't get a limited slip differential, which, for a bi-turbo 306PS real wheel drive car, is almost ridiculous.

So I guess this is an electronic thing that plays the role of a limited slip.
I miss the days where a plain 325is (E30) would get a real limited slip. But you're right, this is a thread of its own.

Spoke with a BMW executive here at the L.A Show, someone from the board even and apparently, Detroit will be the place. He didn't wanna give me a definitive answer, but that's their plan....for now.

Blah! On the other hand it's an opportunity for BMW to shine as more and more manufacturers are turning their backs on Detroit.

Re: Next generation BMW Z4 E89 - part II (first FEP pics incl. !!!)

True the Detroit show sets the stage for the coming year . But with the tightening of budgets for 2009 on event management Rolls-Royce will be focusing on Geneva and the launch of the Concept Car that will preview the new RR04.

Currently the BMW space at the LA show is funded by BMW North America and part funded by BMW AG as will be Detroit but 2009 shows in Chicago and New York will have to solely funded by BMW North America as BMW AG focus more on the events @ Geneva and of course the largest event for BMW it's home show the IAA in Frankfurt.

Like London with a World Premiere (BMW M6 Cabrio) and LA 2006 with the X5 and Hydrogen 7 we thought that these could be stand out shows in between the normal annual and bi-annual shows. London was not the success made out to be so BMW decided no longer to participate , since LA comes on the back of the Paris , Tokyo or IAA it is ripe for showcasing models specific to the american market in this case in 2007 it was the US debut of the 1er Coupe and the US introduction of the M3 after the World Premiere of the Coupe at Frankfurt and the Sedan @ Tokyo.
Even our concept X6 and CS were shown in Dubai instead of LA.

From our manufacturers meetings before the Paris show - a marketing symposium where everyone gets together on the eve of the show ,
Audi , Mercedes-Benz and Porsche were focusing their big launches for Geneva instead of LA or Detroit. Porsche of course say they will not represent at Detroit meaning that the Panamera will have it's World Premiere at Geneva as will the A5 Cabrio and E-Klasse.

BMW X1 will launch at a European show as this car will not sold in North America initially.

When they say we have been "denied" permission to use a trademark.
we are told to stop that means cataloging every aspect of film or photography that displays this trademark , screen shots are used to determine if we can digitially remove said trademark or edit the scene , so then we have to go back to what is on the cutting room floor and look what can be spliced in or if everything can survive quick edits.
When this stop occurs that means preparing for production , distributors previews , dealer training is all postponed , Also think how many people press packs go to , marketing is very heavy in logistics and creativity.

Initially the photographs to the new Boxster and Cayman are very similar to what we have focused on with the new Z4.
Great minds think alike.

Ok but you were aware of that only in the middle or the end of october since you believed everything would be ok for November 5th...

So even if everything has been postponed, that means 1, 2 or even 3 weeks late on the schedule not 2 MONTHS until Detroit !

This is beyond me...

And indeed porsche photos are very good. They really create a good interest for the cars... especially with the nice facelift... beautiful led lights... Great new engine... no competitors...

I'm sure they're gonna score high !

Re: Next generation BMW Z4 E89 - part II (first FEP pics incl. !!!)

You can bet that there's one video clip of the new Z4 that focus on the sDrive badging, and then the next thing you see is an S-shaped road ahead. The Z4 then speeds off to tackle the winding road with sheer precision.

..Wonderful imagery!

Well, you have to admit that given the circumstances, with the global credit crisis, any news that points in this direction is to be taken very seriously.
