Media are slowly getting the general idea (about what SAC is) right but the details are off. There will be no copy/paste design features from other models (eg. Z4, 3er coupe, 3er sedan etc).

That's a given.

How the upturned grille works :
The inner core is basically the shape of the twin kidney grille you find in todays BMW models while the outer shape which is upturned connects the design of the front of the car with the outer part of the grille.
The inner which will have a ledge can be finished in either body color or chrome But BMW designers reckon a Titanium finish would really look the part on the X6 .

There is someone here that has used the basic ideas seen in that leaked image of the futuristic X6 although based on a M6 press photograph which shows an early beginning of the design work. Remember initial impressions by the digital artists are almost never final. If anything he (huckfeldt) is working from very early sketches and early information before the design goes through a phase of adjustment . And then he finally seals the deal.

I have seen one example here and Hussein using the first impressions of the
X6 to his own vision and from the rear both the final car and the impression are very similar but not identical - Prime example is the way the rear bumper phases into the rear arch is one element of the design used. The rear lights look similar and also form into the shoulder line, but in more proportion to that M6 manipulated image.

Is this like a competitor to Audi's Allroad or Q7?

It has no competitors yet. X6 will start a new segment: SAC segment.

Coupe *** SAV. Off-roadish coupe. All-purpose coupe. Cupeish SAV. Sports Activity Coupe.

But in driving dynamics & exclusivity it will be more similar to Allroad.

SAC huh? I don't see anything coupe like about that thing...

Looks nice though.
