Thank you DoctorD, how could I have missed that? I must've been studying the interior trims a bit too hard...May is certainly better than July.

X6 At Dusk and 35i Exhaust Note

Hey guys caught this X6 on my way home today.Tried to get some front shots but just could not get in front of the X6.I think the driver realized I was taking pic's and really started standing on it.At least we got a good look at the rear light clusters at night!!!! I've had some people ask me about the exhaust note on the 35i,which this car was.I opened both front windows as I followed this X6.The exhaust note of the 35i is spectacular!! I was at times directly behind the X6 to sometimes 3-4 car lengths behind. The car has a very distinctive, very audible growl. This driver wised up that I was taking pictures, and was really punching the gas and running up close to the car in front of him.The exhaust note, quite frankly, reminded me of the exhaust note of an Infiniti FX 35.If you have ever been behind an FX35 in traffic, and they punched it off the line, you'll know the sound I'm talking about.I've always liked the way the FX35 sounded. That's about the best way I can describe the sound.I can't speak for what the note sounds like from inside the car,but outside it's a very, very sporty exhaust note.Thanks. PalBay

That's great, the FX35/45 has a really sporty sound. Can't wait till i see the X6 here.

Your lucky you get to spot all these X6s. Are they all BMW workers?

Yes,The only people driving the full production X6's right now are BMW Dept Mgrs. They must keep a logbook and record any issues they run into. The other X6's around are the testers that the Engineers are out evaluating for braking,handling,ride,steering,etc.. Hope that helps. Thanks. PalBay

The X6's Secret Hiding Place

Hey guys made an end of wk recon pass by the BMW Plant on Friday.I've got to travel all next wk and won't be in town to ck out what's going on.Boy oh Boy!!! The X6's were out on Friday. The area around an entrance gate that I park at sometimes was crawling w/ what looked like finished production 35i's.There was at least 35-40 X6's in groups of 5 or 6 (like the group I shot). They were driving from the BMW Plant down a two lane road that connects the BMW Factory to the local airport. At the airport they were parking the X6's in a vacant ( as you can see in the pic's) abandoned parking lot across the street from the Air Freight Terminal at our local Airport.Sorry for the nature shots through the tree's.I thought about getting out of the car and taking a few shots on the other side of the trees.But....that staging area or whatever it is,was packed w/BMW Plant Security personnel.I don't mind being Agent PalBay but not Inmate PalBay!!!!!! I'm really stumped as to what's going on here.As you can see in the pic's there are other makes of BMW's besides just X6's,but mostly X6's, in this staging area.My first thought was some sort of X6 preview, ride and drive for VIP's.That just does not seem to add up.They could be hiding them there until the guest arrive at the airport.Just not sure. What I really think is happening is that these X6's are going to be airfreighted somewhere overseas. They all appeared to be left hand drive ,35i's.About half of the these X6's had running boards, which I've not seen much of prior to Friday. One last mention about the 35i's exhaust note.At the stop sign at the plant entrance, once these guys saw that I was taking pictures, they all nailed the gas.If you like a sporty, loud exhaust note, you will not be disappointed w/ the X6.With the exhaust note,BMW is playing the coupe end of this SAC coupe SUV balancing act.If you look closely at a couple of the pics at the plant entrance, you can see a guy talking on his radio.I'm sure he's telling his buddies, some nutcase is hanging out his window taking pictures. All the X6 drivers were giving me the evil eye.The Black X6 on the airport property,w/ the parking deck in the background,is an interesting shot.Just look at the stance of that car.It just screams " Bad Ass" and " Get Out Of My Way".That's all for now. Thanks! PalBay
