And honestly, if I were the one in a bad beast like that, I know people are going to stop, stare and take pics. So who cares? Those neighbors that eyed you don't know anything about seeing something never seen before, and are obviously not car enthusiasts. |
JadeVetti, These are not promotional cars in the traditional Marketing Dept sense. These are early production run cars that are assigned to Dept Heads at the BMW Plant. There are also Test Engineers that are driving the final production models, looking for any on the road issues regarding handling, braking, etc. The Dept Heads from such Depts as the Body Shop,Paint Shop,Drivetrain and Transmission Dept are asked to use these early production cars as their daily driver. They must keep a Logbook and record any problems they encounter. They are mainly looking for NVH,fit and finish, etc.Take the kids to Micky D's,to school, grocery shopping, use it like a customer would. The only reason I know all this is my neighbor is a Mgr at the Plant. He wanted to bring an X6 home, but the wait list was too long. You also must complete a Performance Center basic driving school before you can bring a car home. The Driving School was the reason for the long wait list. The Plant only does a few classes at the Performance Center. They don't want to knock paying customers out of Performance Center driving schools These early production run X6's are still considered "Prototypes" and require a little higher level of care when driven on public roads.I hope that answered your question. Thanks. PalBay
