I bought a latest edition B7 RS4 after driving 2000 miles in one for EVO's test at the launch of the new M3. The RS4 was great for doing the miles, whilst still providing some smiles. I've since removed the exhaust valves on the RS4 which now sounds much better and pulls low revs with much more vigour. It's been a good car, but I'm still a BMW man at heart so look forward to adding this new X6 to my M3 CSL. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to DoctorD For This Useful Post: | | | Global Moderator

You know, I wasn’t sold on the X6 when it was released... I said to myself, OK, kinda cool but whatever.
Once I saw it I fell in love with it.
You see, I'm not a big fan of trucks/SUVs, even though I understand their purpose... but the X6 is enough to convince me otherwise.
It offers the best of 2 worlds, sportiness and coupe-like design with some of the practicality of SUV.
So you see, it’s designed for people like me. | | | | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to siko For This Useful Post: | | | Me for President

I mean the X6 has "only" 408hp while your ML63 has more than 500hp. Or you reckon the X6 has enough power for you | | | | | Member

The timing for the X50i is not soon enough for me (my ML63 will be collected by its new owner tomorrow), so I will be going for an X6 35d (although I'm still tempted by a remapped 35i). It won't have anywhere near as much performance, but I am going to try and adapt my expectations.
I'll let you know how I get on. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to DoctorD For This Useful Post: | | | Me for President

My thoughts exactly. Seeing it sold it for me too. Of course the SAC designation is some marketing BS like any other company would do to get attention to something different, but the product itself is ooooh wee.

Whether or not previous editor Angus Mackenzie had the ability to sustain CAR's popularity with more incremental and subtle progression of the publication is unknown. What is known is that the radical makeover ushered in by Barlow left many readers who appreciated CAR for its classy image stranded.
I'm willing to bet that many of them crossed over to EVO, which despite its Performance Car heritage and chest-wig "The Thrill of Driving" persona has very much assumed the mantle of the classiest automotive publication (together with sister publication Octane) available.
I just hope that young (and brilliant) Jethro Bovingdon continues with the trend established by Metcalfe, Barker and Meaden and doesn't resort to some questionable graphic design and arty-farty photography in an effort to ensure EVO's ongoing appeal. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to martinbo For This Useful Post: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
