That Quicksilver-looking color - Chrome Shadow - is a very special color BMW are using for selected Concept cars only. Made by DuPont, specially for BMW. The color is not suitable for production models since lacking durability in all-weather conditions.
It is a very expensive paint / finish, and should be applied manually. Costs? Think about 200,000 Euros per car.
The color used on X6 Concept car is NOT Chrome Shadow (as seen on Concept CS), but one of the colors offered via Individual program (unfortunately not available in US market, except experimentally for 7-series). | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to EnI For This Useful Post: | | | Enthusiast

What color is it then? I keep playing with the Visualizer to just take another color, but I have come to realize that the others do not appeal to me at all. (Deep sigh). When I think black, I see the X5 in my mind. I may have reached the end of the road here. Aww, and it was such as beautiful car. But color matters to me just as much as engine/performance/look.
So, when is the CS making it to production? | | | | | Fanatic

Approx €200k is a total cost figure regarding the painting. It's a specially developed paint, special finish, manually applied & dried.
DuPont makes this paint especially for BMW, in very small quantities. It's a boutique paint - that's why the price is so high.
Chrome Shadow is able of amazing transformations depending on lighting conditions: from dark gray to extremely light almost white silver, from light silver-gray to pale gold. Yet in all conditions it looks like a liquid metal: silver, quicksilver, platinum, or gold.
PS: mind that Design Study Concepts (eg. Z9, xCoupe, xActivity, CS1, CS, X6 ActiveHybrid) are usually very expensive ... think about approx € 1 million, or even more (eg. RR Concepts - the "EX"s . | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to EnI For This Useful Post: | | | Fanatic

I am with JadeVetti on the color, that is the one I want. I have seen in past certain colors reserved for individual or Europe being given to US buyers at a price+buyer connections. So it is a possibility at a price. Everything has a price.
BMW Individual colours: Ruby Black metallic and Azurite Black metallic which contains Xirallic® for iridescent glitter effect and extraordinary colour brilliance. Moonstone metallic which contains Titanium Dioxide which generates light effect that changes colour between blue and white. Diamond metallic: Variochrome® paint colour appears to “flip” dramatically between red and gold. Blue Onyx metallic which contains black pigments that are larger, which makes for an elegant mirror-like effect. Malachite Green metallic which contains a seemingly endless number of green hues, reminiscent of the malachite gemstone. Midnight Blue metallic: Then pigments contained in this finish create an iridescent effect with a multitude of dark blue hues.
EDIT: Some more indiv. colors I found, but some of these may not be current. Diopside Black metallic Aventurine silver metallic Carbon Black metallic Sepia Metallic Messing Diamant

I was looking at these earlier on today;
A friend of mine had Moonstone on his M5, and its a stunning colour, probably a bit bright on an X6 though.
Ruby Black is too subtle, most of the time it just looks black, but sometimes in the right light you can see the red tint within it.
Blue Onyx is very nice, and Brilliant White is very extrovert.

I don't know the name of the color. It was presented to me as an Individual color, which is still to come - with X6 & new 7er Individual.
