Re: Spy pics: BMW X6 SAC - part 2 (barely disguised FEP prototypes)

When I first heard of this vehicle, it gathered little of my attention, but these photos bring a new light. The concept and what-not very much reminds me of the Infiniti FX45 (which as far as I care, is a good thing).

Look forward to seeing more.

First impressions aren't great, I hope I'll warm to this car over time!

I was told so. Just like I was told the pre-FEP bumpers were fake (which they were; compare the spy pics!), when FEP phases began, about the engines, Dynamic xDrive etc

I'm a bit sad BMW didn't use new generation kidney grille on this car already. Now we'll have to wait till F01 7er comes.

I expected a bit too individual & too revolutionary styling - my fault due too high expectations. My sources just raised my hopes a bit too high I guess.

X6 will be positioned above X5.

Direct rivals? No direct competition right now, but BMW hopes to snap some buyers from Porsche (Cayenne), MB (ML AMG), Infiniti (FX45), LR (Rang Rover Sport) - so the performance / sporty SUV drivers, and some coupe drivers as well (the ones who like coupe shape & performance but also like SUV-like sitting position).

The researches show the buyers of top-end sporty SAVs buy such a vehicle due sporty performance, high sitting position & image. Not very much due versatility & available space. So BMW now offers a real driver's SAV: the SAC. With high performance capabilities, sporty coupeish shape, good image, yet SAV-like high sitting position. Focus group members were thrilled by this vehicle - many of them non-BMW owners.

I think it's quite different actually. The only thing that looks alike is the grille.
The whole bumper looks completely different. The headlights are wider and much narrower, there are more curves on the hood (look at the air vents)

And that's only the front. The side and back are COMPLETELY different

Now the only real secrets left are the shape of the backlights, the third side window with Hofmeister Kink and the interior.

Re: Spy pics: BMW X6 SAC - part 2 (barely disguised FEP prototypes)

To my surprise...I can see that the rear lights of the X6 are NOT CELIS-LED. Why is that? Is it because they want to make their life easier when it comes to facelifting the X6 after 3-4 years?

Do you think that the production version will have them? You see...all BMW models now have distinct features front and rear. Front corona rings...and rear CELIS LEDs.

IMO the rear looks much better compared to those boxy SUVs currently available.
