Even though X5 isnt the best car offroad in the segment, it can be used there. Its apopular car for the desert. |

Don't forget that the X5's Project Director, Albert Biermann, has a background in chassis development and motorsport engineering. I don't exactly know the logic behind BMW's engineering decisions, but its reasonable to assume that Biermann was appointed to the X5 project because his background in motorsport or "race-track cars" might be compatible with the concept of the E70 X5, i.e to make a track-oriented SAV. |
