okey its out now.. here is my take on it.. but still i want to see it in real life..

but for now.. the front is so nice.. it has the big grill wich i love..and the headlights are gr8 until they reach the outer edge..where i feel that a child have drawn the line around the light unit..its all sloppy and un even to my eyes..at this moment.. if it could be more sharp than round this car could have been the best SUV Face EVER..

the rear to me is very boring.. not so much new.. just the old stuff..

on the other hand im impressed with the interior.. its pretty darn nice..with that aluminum and wood going on.. love it.. the shifter is super cool to

So all in all.. i like the car.. but i reserve judgement until i see it.. but for now..its super.. like it more than the Q7.. but it could have been so much more when it comes to exterior design..

One more complaint what the hell happend to the exhaust tipps..they used to be so gr8 phat and quad.. and look at them now.. looks like they are from a lower end X5 like the 6 cylinder diesel..those do not fit with the V8 X5 to be honest..

Back to the matter at hand: the new BMW X5.

Well, I'm not entirely convinced. It's certainly an evolutionary iteration of BMW's ground breaking SAV - I mean how much revolution can you actually build into the design of a large SUV? They just don't lend themselves yet to the creative license we see exercised in, let's say, saloon car design in my humble opinion. A big two-box wagon on stilts is a big two-box wagon on...

The side profile is instantly recognisable and keeps the X5 DNA wholly intact. To differentiate this as an altogether new generation it's safe to say that the X5 has undergone major reconstructive rhinoplasty. The front may be described by the agents of BMW as aggressive, which it is to a certain extent, but I feel that again, it's a little overdone and fussy. That is a trend that's not unique to the BMW badge of course, the whole crop of recent large SUV's seem to have a huge expanses of frontal area interspersed with smatterings of fussy detailing.

The Audi Q7, Merc ML and new X5 are perfect counterparts with neither exhibiting any particular attribute that differentiates them from the other.

This X5 will be a cracking success once again and has all the mass appeal and status required to cut it in this class, but I know that I'd eat maggot-infested farm manure for a new twin-turbo V8 diesel Rangie Sport.

Indeed it is me! Always been lurking around... through the high's and low's of the Germancarfans forums - when we used to thank Brian for making a wonderful car forum, and the sad time when he closed down. Then there was the intermittent forum in between this one and GCF that never really took off, and finally we're here. All in the space of 4-5 years - You know what they say: "The world is a hectic place with people coming and going... good and bad things happening... but rugby and german cars help keep me going".

I like it a lot.

First E92 and now this car prove that BMW can still make elegant cars after many years of controversial designs.

Sheesh dude, it's soo nice to see that you're still around and part of the ol' clan. I haven't necessarily been as active in the posting stakes but I still miss that cool, classy blend of Gene's insight into the motoring world.

So, watcha think of the new X5 eh?
