2010 BMW X5? on Flickr - Photo Sharing!

Funny thing is, BMW linked to that flickr album via their X5M/X6M teaser site
I had posted those pics originally and i believe one of our members had chopped some color to the pics. Probably in this thread.

I'm rather upset they will have an X6 and X5 M. I wish they had allotted preference for one.

And I'll be more upset if the M looks better on the X5. That would just be...blasphemy.

It's all about economies of scale and maximising profit opportunities. The big mistake is giving the X5-M the same head lights as the X6-M. Rear-end design will be the mere difference between the two and it's all about preference for what type of the shape one prefer, round or boxy. The X5-M shall be a very handsome SUV:

If they are really all about maximizing opportunities, and they are only following in pursuit of their competition, does that mean there will be a solid consideration for a X4 M in the future then? I hope not.

What ever happened to unavailability and exclusivity within reason being more desirable? I see the two X models geared towards different markets. For the person who values practicality (space), there is the X5. Now, to make this practicality a monster speed demon, doesn't wholly make sense to me.

The X6 was originally created for speed and aesthetic purposes, with the hopes that it can and will take on its speedier competitors. I didn't see the X5 ever viewed in that way. BMW needed to add a SUV to its lineup.

That is why it comes as a shock and upset to see there is an X5M alongside the X6M. It doesn't need a Robin. It's not Batman. It's more like BMW's Superman answer to Porsche and the likes. You only need one.

I am looking forward to seeing the sales figures for these two models; it will be interesting.

Blame the Porsche Cayenne. The Turbo is a highly popular car that keep selling in big number. BMW simply felt that they could no longer standby and watch Porsche make all that money. People love the Cayenne Turbo and those individuals might fancy the X6-M but perceive it as too impractical, which is where the X5-M comes in. It wouldn't surprise me to see the X5-M outselling it's X6 counter part.

I actually thought of switching from X6 to X5 because of practicality issues but the lack of power has stopped me. Now they get the same power and DPC, then I don't see a reason to go for the X6 except of the visual preference.
