[/IMG]The BMW X5 shares much of its chassis with the X6, so there's no reason why the X6 shouldn't share its 4.4-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 with the X5. In the X6, this engine is rated at 400 hp.

This prototype was spied undergoing hot-weather testing in the southwest United States. Note how BMW engineers used black mesh on the front bumper to conceal some extra cooling ducts.

We expect the twin-turbo equipped X5 to make its formal debut later this year, likely at either the Paris and Los Angeles auto shows.

one thing is for sure, there is definitely a high performance version coming. It may not be badged ///M, I just hope its capable of outsprinting the Cayenne Turbo/SRT8 in the dust.

It could also be that the X5 will receive the TT-I6 and TT-V8 as engine replacements for the N52 and N62 engines. I can see economy of scale, and manufacturing efficiency as some of the drivers for this harmonization.
I do however think we will see and hear more about this once we get past the unveiling of the F01/02.

I remember at some point Eni or Scott mentioned that there will be a X6 ///M.

Is it just me or are these M-packages from BMW becoming far too predictable? I understand that they gotta keep that 'family' image and design language consistant, but it's next to useless to have all that camo- covering the new bumper when it's obvious what it'll look like.

That front bumper is simply a production version of the aggressive bumper they showed on the X6 'Efficient Dynamics' Concept. Looks great, but nothing overly fresh.

It needs the V8 turbo just to catch up to the ML550, let alone the ML63.
