I have seen some of you have been discussing some website where you can see your X5 through production by entering in your VIN number. From what I can gather this been discussed by the US owners.
Is this something I can do as well? (European) I have a VIN number from the dealership when they confirmed that the last items on the wishlist were in, and that the car was now in "production". When I asked the sales guy he said no.

In the US you can track your car from the day production is scheduled to start all the way until it gets delivered to your dealership (but it is a bit delayed sometimes... my dealer got notification of arrival nearly a week before the website notified me, other than that it is fairly accurate).
They give you a Production # not a VIN #... but I guess maybe you got a VIN# because the car is to be built in the US? My car didn't get a VIN assigned until it reached the US shores
You do this through the BMW Owners section of BMWUSA.com. I guess there must be a BMW Owners web section for each European country?

Interesting, I didn't know such a thing existed. That would help to alleviate the impatience/anxiety.

In US you can either track on Owners Circle at oc.usa.com or 800-831-1117. The toll free # is more up-to-date. Owners circle is few days behind.

I called my dealership had them chk, they did not give me the answer I wanted (it's delayed with about a month) so now I am shifting focus to taking the 74' rati out of hibernation instead.
