Can I please ask if some of you with knowledge of the X5 and X6 can tell me if the Star Spoke 232 (9J x 19") (X6 rim) can be used on a E70 (X5)?

I am getting an X5 30sd, Msport, with V Spoke 227 20" for the summer tires. But for winter I'd like a set of slimmer & higher tires and was thinking of these star spoke 232 that I saw on the X6 visualizer.


I have asked my sales rep, but as usual with sales reps...they don't have a clue..


If anyone of you can offer some insight to this subject, I would truly appreciate it.

First of all congratulations for the new car and wish u many happy miles. As for the rims, am 75 % sure it can be fitted with those rims. Eventually the X5/6 uses the same platform and they are sharing rims

I truly been enjoying reading these forums for the better part of last 6months, initially had an X6 30sd on order, but flaked on it when I saw it came as a 4 seater, got two kids - not being able to bring atleast one of their friends when on a trip to the cabin or driving somewhere made me switch to the X5 instead.

Looks like you have it all, congrats and have fun when you get it.

I was faced with the same dilemma as you, but I decided to go ahead and pre-order the X6 anywho. I based my decision on the fact that I want to have a Range Rover in the near future, and therefore liking and wanting a four seater crosover SAV will only come once, so if I like it, why not. Maybe if my kiddies were older I'd think differently, but when they become of school age I will need something that has more than just 5 seats.

I think what you say in regards to why you stick to your X6 order makes perfect sense to me JadeVetti

I really had to invent alot of rational reasons to get myself awy from sticking with my preorder, not only would I lose the X6, I would also add another few month (I thought then) for waiting to get the X5 instead (as things look now I get delivery probably at or slightly before the first X6 are being delivered to the Norwegian pre order clients) Guess my better half helped me along with finding rational reasons for why X5 rather than X6, come to think of it..


I don't share the wish for owning a Range Rover though, imho, they are heavy, technically decade or so behind BMW's newest & maintenance wise a disaster (they break down alot compaired with BMW's ) at least here around where I live, could be because the dealers handling Land and Range Rovers up here does not have good enough mechanics\service personel to be able to mainaining the cars properly, but my colleagues and friends that own Range Rover Sport's and Vouges are mostly saying there is always something wrong with their cars, they do love driving them though, so it can't be all bad


I don't think there will be many chances in life where one;
1. are in a postition to financially afford going long an X6/X5
2. Timewise be amongst the first to get a new exiting vehicle that will definately turn heads and give you a lot of smiles as you drive it (applicable to the X6 not X5)
3. is in the life situation (seeing this from a familyman with kids perspective) where it actually make sense, as it does for you. Its the right car with enough seats for a defined period of time as you say.

One thing that I am curious about and was wondering if someone could enlighten me about, is US car depreciation, reading posts on this board, I see specially US car owners swapping new cars alot. Are US cars depreciating differently than over here? Financially, what happens the second you drive a car out of the dealership, what kind of depreciation do you see on avg?

Where I live, on a car in the X5 pricerange you are stuck with 10-20% depreciation the second you drive it out the door, if lucky, depending on make and model ofcourse, a 7 series depreciates more than an X5 historically.

(Tax wize, you pay out of your eyeballs for anything heavy or with anything other than a sewingmachine as engine when it comes to cars over here)

For me that makes me want to average out the instant loss that occur the second I drive the car out of the dealership with a few years "normal" depreciation to make it livable.. sort of.. so 3 years or more makes financial sense. to buy a new car in this segment and part with it intra year... is not a viable option for me at all.

To give you an example, in USD, if I had stuck to the X6 preorder, found out that I couldn't live without the 5th seat, and would either put the car out on the open market or worse, traded it in for a new X5, I could assume to loose between USD40k and 50 000 on that trade - new the x6 over here is gonna cost you around USD 300 000 (the X5 perhaps around USD 25k less than an X6) on the road - all taxes paid.

For USD 50 000 you can buy a 116i over here.

I came back from vacation today seeing that there are more options available in the X5 configurator, leather dash (Code 4M5) and VRed exterior.. the VR is easy, it doesn't come with the M-sport package, so no issue there, the M package sticks. But since I've ordered the car with Extended Nappa Interior, I am thinking wouldn't the leather dash help the look and exlusive feel for the car? .. its 2000 euros aprox a huge pill to swallow for half a cow on the dash.. I am wondering if I am about to give my dealer a call with the last item on the list of the allready long list of extras for this car..

2000 euros for leather on dash is lot of money. What is the code for vermillion red?

For me its a non item, don't dare to buy a red X5 in fear of not being able to sell it afterwards (people tad conservative over here..)
As mentioned earlier since it doesn't come with the Msport package its not an option for me to go for the VR.


(thinking a bit more... to get one of the first M Sport packaged X5 with VR it shud be possible if you select BMW individual colour, though thats ridiculously expensive imho) the VR colour is priced at 950 or so euros on the configurator for germany, BMW individual colour here in Norway is about 4000 euros or so on top of the 950.

Sorry I wasn't able to help you with a code on it. (prob same colourcode as the X6.. if thats out yet)

Agree that 2000 euro's is a lot to pay for the "cow on the dash"...but then again... close your eyes pay the money and have a nice option inside the car that you can touch and feel everytime you drive it. rather have leather dash than HUD (not that I've ticked that box either) IMHO, i think leather dash will make this car feel a touch more elegant inside.

I think I need to try to get my dealer to add this option on to my order if its not locked down yet (6th Apr production date I been told earlier), talked with him yday and he wasn't oficially informed of the leatherdash option, and even though its avail in Germany it might be that BMW Norway doesn't let me order leather dash yet. Not sure if the importer is aware of this new item either, will know more tuesday (first working day here after Easter) I've asked my dealer to find out if its possible asap.

Ok, my BMW dealer managed to get the leather dash included onto my existing order, he said I migh risk a couple of weeks delay from the given production start but that is something I can live with. Don't know what its gonna be priced to by BMW Norway, but it can't be that much more than they charge in Germany. So now my SD will arrive with Nappa dashboard as well as the nappa interior.

I am soo looking forward to getting this car, its getting semi-silly!

(now hoping BMW AG will stop with new option updates atleast until I have taken delivery )
