![]() | E70 BMW X5 with 3.0 twin turbo engine?? So is the new e70 x5 actually going to get the magnificent 335i twin turbo engine from the 3 series? and if so why would anyone buy the normal 3.0 or the 4.8i as the turbo engine is the best of both worlds! Autoweek is running an article saying that sources tell them that bmw is doin introducing the engine in 2008. What do u guys think?? |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: e70x5 with 3.0 twin turbo engine?? The X5 needs the 3.0 twin turbo. The current I6 in the X5 sold in the states is woefully under powered for a car of this size. In the recent comparison in Car and Driver, the X5's 0-60 time was just 7.8 or about on par with a Honda Pilot. Ford is running a commercial about it's Edge SUV being .2 seconds faster 0-60. The commercial goes something like "hey the X5 is scary fast, but get this the Edge is .2 seconds faster." I shake my head at this commercial every time because apparently 0-60 in 7.8 seconds is "scary fast." I also hate when lesser car companies try to use the premium cars to prop up their own pieces of junk. Hyundai is comparing their junk to the LR3 and 525.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: e70x5 with 3.0 twin turbo engine?? According to my info X6 will get N54 engine first, X5 will follow later. Same thing with new V8 performance engine. BMW want initially position X6 above X5 - as more sporty vehicle with more powerful engines & better performance. So expect X5 (US model) to get new engines (incl. diesels) eg in 2008. More interesting: Europe is getting X5 3.0sd with 286HP already this Fall. |

I heard the N54 will be in the X5 by the end of this year as 2008 model. The same person couldn't confirm if we will get the X5 3.0sd in the US by the end of the year as 2008 model. I am anxiously waiting for confirmation on the diesel model because I need to get X5 for the wife by the end of the year. Do you have any information if we will get the diesel models in the US before Jan-2008?

![]() | Re: e70x5 with 3.0 twin turbo engine?? wont the turbo engine make the heavy v8 seem a little redundant? im sure the v8 couldnt possibly be that much faster then the x5 with the twin turbo engine inside, not to mention the fact the twin turbo will be much more fuel efficient compared to the 4.8i. Whens the x6 out anyway? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: e70x5 with 3.0 twin turbo engine?? well the V8, until the newer ones are introduced will still be about 60hp and 100Nm more powerful than the turbo N54 |
