F01 built in Dingolfing, also RFK.
Z4 - back to Regensburg. Next Gen.
Possible: more Z-types.
Guess: Magna gets X1

Part of the reason why BMW is moving the next gen X3 to the US is to create a natural hedge against foreign exchange rates. That would support having an X1 produced in Europe (Americans still love huge SUVs despite high gas prices).

As for the Z4, I'm not sure of the sales distribution between the US and the rest of the world. If more are sold in the US, I'd expect it to stay in NC.

2006 worldwide sales:

Z4: 20,981 (12,284 of them sold in US = 58.5%)
X5: 75,321 (26,798 of them sold in US = 35.6%)
X3: 114,000 (31,291 of them sold in US = 27.4%)

Q1 2007 worldwide sales:

Z4: 6,732 (1,906 of them sold in US = 28.3%)
X5: 17,459 (9,069 of them sold in US = 51.9%) *mind that E70 X5 was available in NA market only in Q1 2007!!!

It was built with Europe in mind - since Europe loves smaller SAVs / Crossovers (smaller vehicles in general), while X5 targets US market mainly.

Also X1 - when it comes - will be a huge hit in Europe, while I can't see many of them being sold in US - unless a shift in American mentality happens (due gas prices).

I gotta say ENI, BMW is embarking on an expansion plan that makes MB's and even Audi's look rather tame. I hope they know with their doing with all these models and fragments thereof.

Me too.

Hope the integrity of the BMW-ness remains both on a vehicle and brand level.
MB definately made mistakes, let's hope BMW doesn't.

X1 is the most pathetic BMW ever. I hate it, really really really much. I'm going to pee on that car as long as I live. Shame on you BMW for fooling people to buy this little worm.

You mean you piss on the idea of making an X1, 'cause you cannot piss on something that doesn't even exist!

Well, i piss on it too; i don't want so many models, it can hurt... We've convinced ourselves in that.
