I think that is a very nice car. Why do some of you have to come here and just put down a car without giving a proper foundation to your dislike? I understand that you may not like it, but can you please say why?

I really like the car, and truthfully, I really like Volvo's design. They are not german, and they do not really want to compete, I think, with the german car manufacturers. I think Volvo has their safety moto and that is what they follow. They make rigid tanks, that are truly safe cars. I think, they have to work around that, and being able to work around sucha philosophy that is put into practice 100% of the time, they do make some really nice cars.

For example, Volvo has a tendancy to make the door, where the handle meets, ridge up. I think this may be a safety feature or a design feature in which safety is incorporated into it, since it seems to give a blimpier feel to the door panel. Maybe this is for side impact?

I would definitely not mind purchasing such a car. However, in the US avants, station wagons, wagons, etc., are not that popoular, from what I have seen, heard, and read. So, a car such as this would not appeal to me, but maybe to the Canadian/European market.

Yep I agree. Actually in many ways I think Audi have become the new Volvo. In the 70s and 80s Volvo was THE "vehicle de Jour" among the upper-middle classes. Every private school soccer mum had one -- tennis club carparks were jam-packed with them -- even fashion designers owned them -- Karl Lagerfeld would be chauffeured around Paris in his Volvo estate wagon, while he went window shopping for furniture for his houses.

Today, if you drive past the pony clubs or the best pre-schools in town, it feels like you are in the Audi factory car park -- tons of well-to-do women with their little brats, a couple of Afghan dogs in the back, and the obligatory Chanel sunglasses -- it's like a god-damned uniform.
