I don't know the Cab, nor this motor. However, you have to be aware that the Golf IV Cabrio is in reality a Golf III with a huge make-up to make it look like a Golf IV (you can see it clearly from the side, rear, and especially from the inside).

Re: HELP: Golf 4 2L Cabriolet Info needed

coolraoul - is right the Golf IV Cabrio is infact a heavily modified Mk3 Cabrio, the New Beetle Cabrio (MKIV based) was its replacement.

far2000 - we had millions of the 2.0L 8V engine come Down Under in various VW models so try a search here VWwatercooled Australia - Powered by vBulletin

Also try Carsurvey.org - Car Reviews

A Cabrio thread MK 3.5 Cabriolet - VWwatercooled Australia

Good Luck with purchase

Aye... every MK.(x) Golf Cabrio is mechanically based on a MK.(x-1) Golf.

Re: HELP: Golf 4 2L Cabriolet Info needed

Technically, that's not correct. Golf Mk II never had a cabriolet, the Karmann styled Mk I cabrio persisted well into the Mk II years. The Mk III was a Mk III mechanically. The Mk IV was indeed the Mk III. The EOS is based on Mk V.

By the way Farouk, I'd steer clear of any Golf with more than 120 000 km on the clock.
Especially one that's 7 years old.

Re: HELP: Golf 4 2L Cabriolet Info needed

^^ From what I know (by readings only), the Mk III was not the more reliable of the Golfs. In fact it was the least reliable of all generations of Golf, accordings to many carmags. I don't know if it's right, however.
Of course it does not mean that it was a real dog!
