I felt like a 3 at first, but there's so many tiny details about this car that push my opinion up to a 4.
Unfortunately, as is the case with all "cool lil' detail" oriented new models, the look is bound to fade quickly. I don't feel like this new TT will have much staying power, but I think it will be the coolest car on the block for a couple year's time.
The reason why I did that was because to me the front doesn't look very good, I'm not saying it's ugly, but could be much better! Also the side profile looks back for a coupe!
Let's face it: topping the Mk. I TT was always going to be an impossible task. It's equivalent to Ashlee Simpson trying to emulate her older sister Jessica - it's just not going to happen. So, in order to assess the TT properly, I think it's important to view the car as something completely new and erase all thoughts of the old TT. And really, if you think of it that way, the TT looks, well, amazing! The front is agressive and edgy, the side is perfectly proportioned and gives a multi-dimensional image of the car and the rear is nicely tapered and everything is flowing and seamless.
But really, the best thing about the car is that interior. Perfect. Honestly, I can't find a suitable adjective to describe it - it really is perfect. The gauges, the instrument housing, the way the center console angles towards the driver, the multi-layered look of the center console, the placement of the minor controls on the transmission tunnel, giving the center console a much cleaner look, the RS4-esque steering wheel. Just everything about it screams "Perfection!".
So, alas, it deserves a 5, but since it's just not as good as the original, a 4 has to be the grade. Ashlee may look great, but it just doesn't compare to Jessica.
