This may be a silly question...but does Audi have the service facilities worldwide to repair aluminium structures? I know that they have to go to big efforts when it comes to repairing A8s, but TTs will be selling in infinitely greater numbers, be getting pranged and needing repairs for tricky aluminium...

Aluminium cannot be welded like steel and requires special techniques to mend. My accountant has new A8 and his son did some serious damage to it at the end of last year. It took 9 weeks to fix it and that was with attention from Day 1 of it being towed back in. At least in Sydney, am not sure if Audi currently has the resources to deal with large scale aluminium repairs.

Very true. I've heard of people avoiding buying the A8 because there are simply very few shops willing or able to service aluminium bodies.
