Based on that i ask myself does the next Gen TT (RS) need a different running gear.
And IMHO it need a different running gear to step up de ladder and step away from VAG cars like the Golf.

The best way IMHO would be the transaxle "Borg Warner" Dual-Clutch technology featured on the Nissan GT-R sports car.

By using this gearbox ( if it will be avaleble to other makes in the future) Audi can use the new inline five 2.5TFSI (developed with "Borg Warner") engine longitudinaly because the gearbox is @ the rear.
Beside the use of the inline 5 the 2.0TFSI engine can be used for the lesser TT models.

I've driven the new TT three times now. Audi need to work on the Roadster feeling. Current feels like you sitting in a A3 and driving. The driving experience need to be improved and changed by Audi.

Hi
it sounds so interesting and deep.... on the other hand I have a TT RS, I drive it and I love it the way it is!!! Maybe my coment will make the level of complaint in your message little lower. Somehow it is a question of using the thing for a movement and not only discussing the construction. It is like in an orchestra you do not discuss the instruments.... just play them and have fun. I do it this way
Best regards to all of you

Poverty is an unknown quantity at this point
TT-RS does not need dsg most of all, what it needs is a better 4wd system for dynamics. Haldex is not good enough for a car like the TT RS. It needs the torque vectoring technology.

So basically... you feel like in an A3, just because you are driving in... a rebodied (somehow) A3...

In fact.. you are just normal...

(and they did it again with this haldex crap ?... every move seems good to embiggen the margin...)

Maybe they should rename the A3 as the Audi TT shooting brake... or stop doing these excessive plateform sharing... It's good for cheap cars (Renault, nissan) But when you claim to be a luxury brand... sharing more or less everything between VW Skoda seat and Audi while just adjusting the pricetags accordingly might get old one day...

I don’t really keep track on Audi but if I remember correctly the TT has its own aluminium steel hybrid platform which is different from the A3

If we are to believe what is said regarding BMW, that is just the way they are going. "Every" car in the lineup will share platform. If this is true, then I guess they are not alone in this cheapo approach and we will have to get used to all cars behaving in the same way...

The TT-RS is what it is and can't be expected to be anything more.

It's fast, handles very well and is well made without question. But this doesn't change the fact that it is, in essence, a hyper hatch in coupe clothing; it has a transversely mounted engine and transmission that brings with it inherent, unavoidable FWD characteristics that no amount of centre differential trickery can overcome.

For most car lovers the TT-RS will provide an exceptional driving experience. Just don't expect to get it sideways under power...

I feel a post coming on in the "It's good but it'd be great..." thread.

But BMW's platform is still unique, and only used in BMW cars (ok, and RR). And unlike a TT vs A3, you do not have that feeling in a Z4 vs 3er.
