TT MK2 Rear Deck Spoiler - 06-12-2008, 01:07 AM

Has anyone found a way to stop the rear deck spoiler from deploying. Like disconnecting the drive or a relay to unplug? Any leads would be very helpful.

Yeah, it's not like if it was here for a reason anyway...

What do you want to unplug next ? the brakes or the airbags ?

I'm adding a completely new spoiler, a much wider and long one to add more length to the rear of the car. "Wow Your car has airbags and brakes", You MUST BE RICH!!!!!!

The TT is very sensitive in that aspect. The MkI had no spoiler, as a result there was 1 killed and a lot of injuries in Germany, because of the instability of the car (rear too light, very dangerous in a corner even with AWD). Audi had to recall the car and add a spoiler.

It has roughly the same rear shape as a Porsche 911 (who happens to have a spoiler also).

So I would not touch it unless it's a spoiler specificly designed for the TT, and from a renowned tuner. If it is they surely have your solution.

(BTW, stay cool!)

hey ttrider, welcome to GCZ. Your car looks pretty dam nice in your avatar, got some bigger photos?

I guess you can just disconnect the electric motor that raise the rear deck spoiler. Are you going to install the spoiler by yourself, or youa re taking it to a shop, I am sure they will take care of everything.

This is ABT ... Call them!

Btw love that your car has S-line exterior.. Looks 10 000 times better.
But did you chose it in Carbon or is it plastic ?

I think all TT's with aftermarket spoilers look nasty. Completely ruins the minimalistic design

This spoiler that i plan to use is a Porsche rear deck spoiler, which is wider and will sit 4 to 5 more inches of the back of the deck lid. And as far as the stability issue's, more surface more down force. Thank's sir and you stay cool as well.

It's the titanium silver plastic. And the car is Sahara Silver, and my rear valance is stock, but i cut a macthing hole for the other side to make dual quad outlets ,and it turn out perfect. Everyone thinks its OEM. And your car looks HOT.
