AutoWeek - 2008 Audi TT Coupe 3.2 Quattro (short drive)

OUR TAKE: The first-generation TT made an immediate fashion statement. A decade on, it gets a crisp new suit, sure, but it lacks the sizzle of the original.

It doesn't matter much, because the underlying car here is more than good. The chassis is responsive and robust, with a decent punch from the V6 joined to a supremely fluid and well-tuned six-speed gearbox.

It's more than capable of being driven quickly with ease, and it feels composed rounding turns and shooting down the expressway at high speeds. It may not get the heart pumping the way a Porsche Cayman or even a Nissan 350Z does, but it feels perfect for cruising around in.

As-tested price: $51,225
Drivetrain: 3.2-liter V6; awd, six-speed manual
Output: 250 hp @ 6300 rpm, 236 lb-ft @ 2500-3000 rpm
Curb weight: 3218 lb
Fuel economy (EPA/AW): 20/20.8 mpg
Options: Audi Exclusive Line, including black fine nappa leather seats, bicolored leathers with colored stitching ($2,200); navigation system with iPod interface ($1,950); magnetic ride suspension ($1,400); audio package, including satellite radio, premium sound ($1,000); 18-inch alloy wheels with summer tires ($800); bixenon adaptive headlights ($800); Bluetooth preparation ($450); parking system ($350)
