Have you ever driven a Mini? I highly suggest you do so. It handles just as well, if not better than cars 2-3x its price that are typically considered to be "sports cars"- even the "hardcore" variety. i wasn't so hot on Min's until after I took a chance and drove one. Nothing else quite like it.... especially for the price. It's also quite roomy.
