The C63 is such a flippping brilliant car. People are so hung up about the m3's dynamics etc, and in the process forget about the c63's major merits. I would take the c63 over the m3, the looks, the poise, the noise from that V8 and its ridicoulous pace. Match made in heaven. AMG's done good. ![]() | |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | One thing that is often over looked is traction, and it seems could be the reason why the C63 delivered better numbers than the CLK63. Traction becomes a problem when there is either too much torque to the wheels or the vehicle is just too light for the amount of torque from the engine. There are several ways you can improve traction: 1. A complex electronic control system that manages the amount of power/torque that is delivered to the wheels at launch(traction control). 2. Reduce the Torque such that what is sent to the wheels is all delivered to the tarmac. The complex traction control does this in milliseconds or nanoseconds. 3. Use of downforce. This can be achieved aerodynamically with rear wings or mechanically by increasing the weight of the car on the rear if it is RWD, front mounted engine. Note that mechanical solution carries a weight penalty, but it does address the issue of traction. There are however other possible scenarios. One is that the test conditions could be different, we know how temperature affects lap times on the same track. One thing that is not stated in those numbers is the temperature of test cases. Secondly, are they done on the same surface? The surface type affects the results as well. Then there is also the issue of the type of tyre that both vehicles are equiped with, and the state of the tyres as well.
