Faulty Continental sport contact 2's?

Hey guys.

I had my car mot'd the other week and it failed due to faulty tires. Luckily i still had the cars OE wheels in my garage, so after a quick trip home and a wheel swap the car was passed. Since then i have taken the wheels with the faulty tires on back to the tire shop. They have now been sent away to Continental to be checked which may take up to a month!!

The tires are Continental sport contact 2's. Size 225/40/18 and have never been curbed or bashed and have the pressures checked bi-weekly (30-34 psi pending on load) the car rarely gets pushed and is mostly used on motor ways yet they have managed to gain roughly 4 to 6" splits down to the threads on the inside walls. I was just wondering if anyone had experienced similar problems with this tire?

cheers

Dan

I've been using conti sport contact 2 for a couple of years now (225/45 R17 and 245/40 R17). I'm really happy with them. Never had any issues with them...they last me about 20.000 km under very sporty driving conditions.

Ive been using Continental sport contacts since 03 roughly, and i havent had any problems until now. Which got me wondering if the tires i had are just a one off case or if there was a bad batch or s,thin.
