Now, it would be relatively simple to look up the information on Wikipedia but wouldn’t it be nice to have a thread listing engines from all makers for us as a quick reference point? The idea is as follows, in a post, list one or more engines as per the following example using the format below: [Maker] – [Engine Code] – [Description] – [Year From & To] – [Models fitted] Nissan – VR38DETT – 3.8L V6 DOHC Twin Turbo, 353 kW, 588 Nm – 2008 to Present – GTR (R35) Mercedes Benz – M156 – 6.208L V8 DOHC NA, 335-386 kW, 600-630 Nm – 2005 to Present – C63, CLK63, CLS63, E63, ML63, S63, CL63, SL63 There are often additional prefixes and suffixes that some of you experts would be more familiar with (eg. EnI and chonkoa) so please feel free to discuss the meaning of the coding structures. A diagram and / or discussion around the engine would be most useful too but this is by no means a necessity. Posts will be thanked and detailed descriptions / images will get karma. From me. Personally. So how’s that for an incentive? ![]() I’ll kick it off and then edit the list in alphabetical order in a single post as the info comes in. __________________________________________________ _______________ Mercedes Benz – M156 – 6.208L V8 DOHC NA, 335-386 kW, 600-630 Nm – 2005 to Present – C63, CLK63, CLS63, E63, ML63, S63, CL63, SL63 Nissan – VR38DETT – 3.8L V6 DOHC Twin Turbo, 353 kW, 588 Nm – 2008 to Present – GTR (R35) Subaru – EJ207 – 2.0L Flat-4 DOHC Twin-Scroll Turbo, 227 kW, 422 Nm – 2003 to Present – WRX STI (JDM Only)

Featuring a twin-scroll turbocharger (long before BMW and MINI happened upon it), reinforced semi-closed deck block, forged pistons & conrods, hollow inlet valves, sodium filled exhaust valves and variable valve timing, this engine revs well beyond 7000 rpm which is remarkable for a turbocharged mill. It is incredibly robust and favoured by tuners as a result. ![]() (Dang! Do you think I can find a decent, accessible cutaway image of a JDM engine?)
