When can you say a car use a highreeving engine?
Where is the redline according to you?
Above 7000 rpm or is 6500 rpm enough to be called a high reeving engine? | | | | | Aficionado

Depends of the times/technology.
Once a 5000 was a high rever. | | | | | Devotee

Most petrol engine can reach 6500rpm, so for me I consider an engine high revving when the redline starting at 7500 rpm or higher | | | | | Expert

I would consider a high revver to be above 8000 rpm.
The problem is the definition is constantly revised with the newer engines that we are getting. | | | | | Fanatic

Nowadays I think it is 8000+. All the N/A engines in today's top sports cars like GT3, M3, RS4/R8, Ferrari, Lamborghini all have 8000+ redline. 7000 to 8000 is decent for a N/A engine but is not cutting technology any more. Also I think you need a 8000+ rpm redline to break the magic 100+ HP/liter barrier (atleast I don't know any N/A engines that rev less than 8000 RPM that make 100+ HP/litre). | | | | | Devotee

Ofcourse the measurement equipment back then is not as accurate as the ones we have now. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to monster For This Useful Post: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
