  | AMS: Subaru Legacy Diesel Testdrive They had high praises for the engine. The boxer-setup means less weight, advantages in terms of handling and of course refinement. The engine is very refined in this manor and it's also very rev-happy. Power output is 150-horsepower and 350 Nm of torque (258 lb/ft) and they clocked the 0-100 km/h time at 8.9 seconds. Top speed is 203 km/h (127 mph). Fuel consumption was measured at 5.7 L / 100 km (41.2 mpg) making it very fuel efficient. The comfort and suspension were rated as good making the Legacy diesel an ideal long distance cruiser. On the downside, this car is not available with an automatic transmission and the 5-speed manual lacks a 6th gear (duh) and has long gear ratios. There is a slight delay in engine response and for a modern diesel it is very loud when cold but naturally quiets down as it warms up. Price is 31,000 Euros.  The Scan
