May and Hammond could leave 'Top Gear'?

James May and Richard Hammond could leave Top Gear after failing to agree contract terms, according to a report.

The pair, whose contracts expire at the end of the month, are said to want pay deals more in line with co-host Jeremy Clarkson, which the BBC may not be prepared to meet.

"Internally there is talk that there might be a chance for the first time that there could be a break up of the team, it has got that bad," MediaGuardian quotes a source as saying.

"There has been a lot of pulling out of hair, a Mexican stand-off. For the first time it is possible that one or both might leave."

The source added: "They don't want to accept second status any more. There has been a meltdown in negotiations."

Re: May and Hammond could leave 'Top Gear'?

I support them and BBC will most likely pay up since there can't be a Top Gear without them. Unfair that Clarksson is getting a super salary.

Re: May and Hammond could leave 'Top Gear'?

They're worth it, and BBC will realise that they can't afford to lose them.
Imo, they're worth jsut as much as Clarkson, if not even more!

Re: May and Hammond could leave 'Top Gear'?

I am sure all the women will write in demanding they pay Hamster what he wants. Anyone here ever been to hamsterheaven.com

Clarkson does do more on the show then Hammond and May, but they still should make simillar amounts.

Re: May and Hammond could leave 'Top Gear'?

If Jeremy Clarkson likes working with those 2, and if he wants to continue on the success of the show, he will share his extra pay with May and Hammond so all 3 of them will have equal pay. After all they have been thought I don't think Clarkson will just let this happen without doing anything.

I give you two words why you or no one else should believe in this story:

Any negative rumour the Guardian creates about Top Gear, Jeremy Clarkson, James May, Richard Hammond, The Stig and even fast cars, you can be sure it's just complete and utter twaddle.
