Not exactly. The SLR is a lengend when it comes to design and is more captivating in appearence than any front engined car we've seen in years. And the SLS is an excellent progression in Mercedes' expertise in designing super cars that moves people.

^ Not exactly. SRL is a big failure and SLS will make that bad taste disappear. Also, design is subjective, and I have this feeling I will like the SLS much more than SRL.

If the SLS drives right it will make the SLR a distant memory in no time. The SLR never, ever quite lived up to the hype surrounding it. I too liked the SLR, especially the roadster version, but this SLS promises to be in another league.

SLR didn't differ very much from rest of Mercedes models other than the design, it was just another fast Benz. SLS will do everything the SLR did but so much better.

2 diffrent levels of supercars..
this will probably cost around half of what the SLR costs..

I think MB will make a SLR sucessor eventually..

I think the car is just being built by AMG, without HWA.

And given the high sales, it has been a highly attractive car for customers who want a supercar that's drivable on a day to day basis. Further more the SLR has been an extraordinary ambassador for Mercedes in terms of image and prestige. It was a ground breakingly stunning car when it was unveiled. As a supercar off course, it doesn't stand head to head with the CGT and Zonda. But it has served well for Mercedes brand and I do appreciate it greatly. Highly distinctive and memorable car when it comes to design.

To me this car will tell just how capable AMG is as a builder of high performance vehicles. For AMG this will be their "M" car.

I will never understand the lack or respect that BMW fans show towards the SLR.

The design of the SLR was beyond majestic. The performance could have been better, but was exceptional. You really can't judge this car by it's lack of sales. IMO it is far better looking then the SLS (from what we have seen so far).

The SLS is nice and maybe it will be able to turn corners better. It still doesn't mean that the SLR was irrelevant. And to say it is would be BS. Now if you want to say that about the R-class.....then yea that would be acceptable.
