Where ever, as long as it's easily accesible.

The SLR I sold did not have remote doors.
Having remote doors would be a good way to get some nasty dings. At least opening them manually you can see if there is anything close enough to hit.

What most of you are forgetting is that a regular opening door requires room as well. Based on the pics with the doors open, it doesn't appear to require as much room as a standard door.

Also, it is crystal clear that the door handles are in the normal place.

I'm not sure how's it's crystal clear with images like this one?

look at where the locks are placed, they are under the door, not at the sides which suggests the handle will be at the bottom.

Wow, just wow. The most exciting car out of MB after a long long long long ...long time and you guys spend 5+ pages on how the doors open.

Some one should make a one of those spoof poster saying "MB fans... they just don't focking get it!"

Wait...everyone's talking about the SLS debuting @ frankfurt...but doesn't Merc usually make a concept of the car before it comes out?

You are ignoring pics that clearly reveal regular placed door handles and focusing on other pics tht don't.
NOt trying to be snarky, but are you telling me you can't see this door handle?
Now I suppose it is possible that this is a faux handle, but I doubt it.

Those door handles are fake and ergonomically inappropriate for gullwing doors, and look clumsy on the car too. Like with the original, the handles will be flush with the door design. Take a look at the most recent spyshots and you'll see whether the handles are still there or not.

You are looking at a car that has heavy cladding on the sides and comparing it to one that has only tape. Those handles are most probably fake. They would be very obvious to see on the taped car if they existed.

Also, it would be very hard to pull a door up with a handle placed there and from that angle.
