| I gotta tell you I'd be real suprised if MB can keep the weight down the stated 3571 pounds. Either way by the time the car is certified and adjusted for the U.S. will be be 3700lbs...well I hope not, but that is what usually happens. I'd like to see them come under the stated weight and hit 3350lbs, but that will never happen. M

Don't be too surprised about the SLS's weight. Afterall, it's a Mercedes Benz and it must have superior crash safety and that equals more weight. Also the SLS has a wide array of active safety equipment and a quality interior (i.e. all the trimmings conform to Mercedes' durability standards). All these add weight to the car. The suspension and chassis components are also heavy because they are designed to pass stringent durability and reliability standards. For example, I have never heard of a Mercedes suffering from a bent suspension arm or wishbone from normal use................The 575, 360 Modena, 430, and some other Italian exotics do suffer such problem. PS, I still don't like the SLS's interior! | |
