| re: Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG (spy shots & info) It's not going to be an AMG badged car... if you look closely at this picture, you will see the side of the large star in the middle of the grill with one bar going into, much like Huck's design.

| re: Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG (spy shots & info) Rumor started way back in 2004 or so, when the successor to the SLR was said to be a large conventional steel coupe developed by AMG. At that time, McLaren was said to be freed to work on two mid-engine cars for Mercedes (just before the break-up) the p8 and p11. I think they mistook the development by AMG to mean that it will be badged AMG. |

| re: Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG (spy shots & info) I wonder if the car will be the first Merc to feature the manufacturer's new 5.0L engine or the 4.5L one, both turbo charged off course. The 5.0L is rumored to replace the V12 dinosaur powering the AMG 65 models. Badging the car as an AMG will be another drunken game of Dr.Dieter Zetsche begging for a fiasco. People don't care about AMG, heck only petrol heads know that AMG is tuner and not just a suffix for Mercede's top of the range cars. As a true gullwing successor it should be badged a Mercedes and that's about it. A star on the grill will make it more appealing to people's eyes than a blant AMG emblem. |

One magazine says a new 6L version of the AMG 6.2L V8 with a turbo and anywhere from 580-700hp for the SLC. Another says a new line of direct-injection, turbo V8s in 4.0, 4.5 and 5.0L sizes with varying hp from 365-500hp for the next S-Class and facelift of the upcoming W212 E-Class around 2013. I won't get started on the 3.5L V6 and the many versions Mercedes already has out. M
