Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG (spy shots & info)

This is a discussion on Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG (spy shots & info) within the SLS AMG forums, part of the Mercedes-Benz category; I only like this rendering. The others look butt-ugly to be honest. The red one is also absurd, why would ...

I only like this rendering. The others look butt-ugly to be honest. The red one is also absurd, why would it have front lights straight from the current E-Class (which won't even be in the market anymore when this car is presented)?

^^
IMO that rendering depicts the SL65 black series rather than the new gullwing. The bumper and grill high resembles the SL65 BS mules.

I don't think so. The SL 65 BS won't be that different from the regular SL. The F1 safety car gives a pretty accurate idea of what it will look like.

The appearance of the SLC is very much unknown at this point but I really like many of the details in this CAR mag rendering. The hood should be a notch longer but I hope the production car will be something similar.

This chop is too generic SLR-based speculation. There is nothing retro or inspired from the Gullwing, nor are the headlights "almost upright" as well as the front. I like the latest rendering from the german magazine posted a few posts earlier. It is credible and worthy an effort to this latest supercar.

As far as the Black Series, it should end up being nothing more than an SL with bulged body pannels and a slightly rakier backlight.

I do see more than a bit of Chrysler Crossfire on this design, nonetheless, whether that credits or discredits this effort.

^ I totally agree ...it is very Chrysler-looking.

This another chop.

At first I quite liked the SLR-based chop ....but I've looked at it a few times and decided it's not working for me either -- I know ....I'm impossible to please

That's true, it has very little inspiration from the original Gullwing. Nevertheless its looks please me the most at the moment.

The SL BS test mules have a rather pointy front end just like the illustration. With the SLR having the sharpest front end in automotive history, I can't see MB walking down the same path again with their new super car. Like with have seen with some impressions the front end will have a very classic and soft touch with the head lights located above the grill. There for I find the chop to be more like a pimped up SL front end.
