He's not a God, but behind all the funny words and weird comparisons, he's often spot on about the car's basic traits... I often surprise myself by thinking that he's not that wrong after all...

Lol...I guess I'm apart of the population that just laughs. Either way it will be interesting once the SLS comparisons come in. I'm sure we will see a R8 vs. SLS...but the rest I'M unsure about.

There is a lot of truth to this statement.

Clarkson is a sort of cartoonist and makes caricatures of cars on his shows and his writings. And like a good caricature, it exagerates the car's flaws of strong points. So when he accelerates a Scudeia and goes this is better than sex with Angelina Jolie (I don't know if he really said that, but he probably did), is it really that good? no. And when he sits on a pile of rocks and says it is more comfortable than the SL65 BS? Is it really so? no. And if you really don't have the sense of humor to get that and comes crying to the Internet about what a fool he is cause he dissed your father's car, the joke is on you.

Well said Sunny
But of course, that being said, not all cartoons are funny. A good cartoonist can be way off on occasion ... remember the infamous Danish cartoon.

SKYSONY is a jewel in the roughSKYSONY is a jewel in the roughSKYSONY is a jewel in the rough
From MCLAREN_P10, supercars insider:

My sources close to AMG have revealed to me more details on the next generation SL-Class, SLS Roadster, and SLS Black Series. The SLS Roadster will likely carry the SLC nameplate and will showcase all the styling the coupe does, with the added flair of the cabriolet. My sources have revealed to me that the doors will open scissor style, alot like those found on the SLR Stirling Moss and will feature a steel frame for the windshield. This version of the chassis will underpin the next generation SL-Class accept with a folding fabric roof. This model wiill be followed by the plug-in hybrid SLS, possibly labelled SLE, which will weight slightly more then the petrol. My sources say the SLS Back Series will be powered by either a twin-turbo version of the base SLS coupe/ Roadster producing 707 BHP, or possibly a even more powerful new twin-turbo AMG developed V-8 engine displacing 5.0 liters and should be good for as much as 750 BHP and would be good for a topspeed of 240 MPH. But my sources suggest the twin-turbo 5.0 liter direct injection V-8 would arrive with the AMG series SL, and Black Hammer. So I would say expect this model to be powered by a twin-turbo version of the 6.2 liter V-8 for now. As I said before expect the body to be made of carbon fiber , with new active aerodynamic systems. The next generation SL-Class will arrive and based on the SLC/ SLS Roadster aluminum spaceframe, and will retain it's folding metal roof, this time made of aluminum and alloys. The chassis will be reworked by Mercedes to make this model more of a Grand Tourer. Expect to see Mercedes start the line-up witha 4.0 liter version of the co-developed with Chrysler Phoenix V-6 producing 340 BHP, a new direct injection 4.9 liter V-8 producing 470 BHP, a new twin-turbo( 1 large turbo, 1 small turbo V-12 displacing 5.4 liters and producing 530 BHP, with the AMG range starting with a twin-turbo direct injection 4.6 liter V-8 producing 500 BHP, direct injection twin-turbo 5.5 liter V-8 producing 580 BHP, then moving up to a twin-turbo direct injection race bred 5.0 liter V-8 good for between 650-715 BHP, and even higher in the Black Hammer supercar.

Yawwwn... Zzzzzzz....

Another spyshot or two, a whole lot more internet cafe day-dreaming and nothing of real substance. That McLaren_P10 "insider" sounds like a kid making stuff up.

Next SL being based on the SLS chassis? Really? You mean to tell me it will have the same basic suspension components, transaxle, front mid-mounted layout etc? Makes no sense. The whole idea behind the SLS is to showcase a pinnacle model with a very specific engineering approach for a Mercedes Benz. I'm of the impression is that this chassis, drivetrain and package layout will be unique to the SLS.

The SL is an expensive but mainstream product line. It has a totally different character and appeal vs. the SLS. It's a luxury sporting car with the emphasis on comfort and usability with a very different character to that of the SLS. For one, the SL is one of the few exclusive cars out there that has a relatively short wheelbase in relation to the long front and rear overhangs. It's actually a distinguishing key attribute of the SL image. There is no need for a future SL to make use of a torque-tube and transaxle configuration. Expect the more familiar coupling of engine (in V6 to V8 guises in a variation of outputs) and 7G-Tronic / MCT transmissions up front.

The SL is a monumentally important car for Mercedes - it has no true and direct rival featuring a metal folding roof (anyone mention a Lexus SC and you'll be set on fire) and the specific image and prestige of an SL. The SL is, really, in a class of its own. So why bugger around with a good recipe?

Come on now Mercedes Benz, for the love of it - release the SLS officially already. You're verging on anti-climax.
