I have mixed feelings about the McLaren SLR.
I love the way it looks.
I love the sound produced by the engine.
I love the practicality of it.
I love the power.
BUT...
I Hate the fact it only produces 626 Bhp. The old McLaren F1 produced 635 Bhp from a normally aspirated 6.7 V12. And it's not as fast or faster than the EXCELLENT old F1 supercar.
I hate the £350.000price. This car simply doesn't worth all that money. It feels and looks like a SL55 AMG without the limiter and with a solid roof. Even the interior comes straight from the SL. The McLaren SLR doesn't feel special fro the money. I would pay £150.000 max for the SLR.
I hate the weight of it. 4000 Ibs...that's too heavy for a supercar.
I hate the fact that Paris Hilton got one. She is nothing more than American white trash with loads of money.
I hate the lack of passion in it. Sure, the SLR is a nice car. But it lacks that extra something, that makes a fine car into a great one, which this isn't it. The SLR doesn't feel passionate enough. It's just too clinical for a supercar. The hypothesis behind this car seems to be overbalanced, too much form, too much practicality and not enough fun or x-factor.

So there you have it...
I'm not saying the McLaren SLR is a bad car. No I'm not. After all, that would be just plain ridiculous.
I don't hate the SLR by any means. Even though I sounded rather negative about it.
I just don't love the SLR.
It's not hardcore and special enough for a supercar. It doesn't have that X-factor as a Ferrari Enzo, Lamborghini Murciélago, Pagani Zonda or a Porsche Carrera GT does.
Mercedes-Benz should have given a more racing approach to the SLR. Like they did with the exuberant CLK GTR.
Now that's what I call a true Mercedes supercar!
