![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Official: McLaren Mercedes SLR Stirling Moss Posted by Autoblog.com, We've seen quite a few spy photos of a lightweight speedster variant of the McLaren SLR supercar, but up until now we didn't know exactly what Mercedes-Benz had in store for us. Thanks to Dutch magazine AutoVisie and a scanner-wielding member of (Official: McLaren Mercedes SLR Stirling Moss)GermanCarZone.com, we now have a few more rendering and a possible name: Stirling Moss. The legendary British racecar driver won his first F1 Grand Prix in a Mercedes-Benz, and famously won the 1955 Mille Miglia in record time piloting a 300 SLR. The car to bear his name features a nearly identical version of the supercharged V8 in the standard SLR, although output is nearly on par with the SL65 AMG Black Series at 650 horsepower. That should allow the Stirling Moss SLR to hit 62 mph in under 3.5 seconds and on to a face-contorting top-speed of 205 mph. Beginning in June of 2009, 75 examples will be produced, with current SLR customers being the only people deemed worthy of piloting the McLaren SLR Stirling Moss. Very interesting car and I can't wait to see the press images along with videos. Engine sound must be out of control like the SL65 BS. |

PS It would be so fly to drive around in one..with goggles on and a aviator skull cap ![]()

Will he be in a better mood? Congratulations Chris Hoy - A remarkable achievement . This is what the SLR should have looked like in the first place. | |

These cars will sit in locked & protected garages of wealthy collector who will only drive the car once in a lifetime - when putting it into garage. Is it allowed for a single person to buy several of those cars? I can imagine the sultan of Brunei buying them all, and then only keeping one car ... destroying the rest 74. One car remaining - the only item available. Priceless. ![]() Gosh, what's next? A jet-driven Maybach? Or perhaps a flying horse? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Official: McLaren Mercedes SLR Stirling Moss OK, I guess I'm the only one here that doesn't really like or see the purpose of this car. I'm sure it looks stunning in person, but I just don't GET the purpose of this car. What is it????.......a GT? a sports car? a daily driver? a track car? I really don't know!!......other than a REALLY expensive boulevard cruiser. At least with the Bugatti Veyron, I know what I'm getting...... No windshield.....that really bothers me. I can understand cars like the Ariel Atom or Caterham or X-bow that are more like dedicated track cars where the lack of a windshield is less of an issue because you're likely wearing a racing helmut. But this SLR variant aint' no track car. I think this car will be bought by the ultra, ultra rich and be a trophy car for display. For me, the ultimate SLR is the 722 Edition Coupe.
