You might be right. I wish I knew for certain how many they've sold to date. Last time I saw a number it was like 1200 or so, so I'm guessing somewhere around 1500 now. I think they can sell about 500 of these and then another 200 coupes, if they make some changes. Maybe they'll do a 722 version of the roadster too.

It does look good but the SLR is no old by super cars standards. Super cars sell a lot during the first years and the with increasing sales the demand drops. As soon as a new super cars is on sale people super car hoes forget all about the old ones.

Now when there are more than 1200 SLRs rolling on the roads there are very few who would want to shell out 500k for the convertible which is bound to have the worth resale value on the market.

The CLK BS series and the coming SL black series are leeching SLR sales big time. The SLR is yesterdays super car. The 599GTB is what's hot right now.

MB won't manage to sell many more SLRs the coming years especially when the word will spread that the new Gullwing is on the way.

That looks awesome! MB manages to create some of the best looking (if not the best looking period!) convertibles of our time.

The top design also looks good but I don`t think MB should have left that quarter panel window out of the drop-top. That sort of breaks the design flow of the car.

I think the SLR should be updated much like the SL. This cars has icon writen all over it much like the current SL which is another icon of Mercedes-Benz.

Exactly. MB should have face lifted the SLR like Lambo did with the Murc. It's very important to face lift a car if it's going to be on the market for 6 years like the SLR.

On top of that guys the drop-top should have been introduced after the f/l and new engine. That really would have buttered things up for the SLR!

I'm still holding out for a facelift or something for the coupe once they finished with roadster production. Interestingly I've read where they can't build both the roadster and coupe at the same time so I think coupe will have to come back if they ever want to get close to that magical 3500 number. A new coupe with a softer nose, more power, retuned suspension and brakes would be nice.
