| SLR - What does the future hold for it? -
11-30-2005, 02:40 AM
I'm curious to know what people think and/or have heard will happen to the SLR over the next few years. Will it get an enlarged version of the new AMG V8 or a turbocharged version? Will a manual tranny every make it into production for the SLR? What will the facelift bring? Does anyone know how many Mercedes has sold so far worldwide or in the U.S?
Is this revised/lightweight/more powerful SLR being talked about going to become a reality?
What you all think?

Mb really needs to increase the power of the car and stiffen up it's suspension if they really want it to be as hardcore as the CGT, Zonda and Enzo. | | | | | Enthusiast

if they just take out all the comfortable interior inside, make it say like a clk55 dtm, with like light weight everything then yea, it can, but at the moment its like comparing i dunno....an apple with an orange lol......they are both spherical but like different on the outside and the inside haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa....but seriously though....fill an enzo or a carrera GT with climate control, navigation, radio, floor mats, er leather etc then you can compare them all fairly....would you rather travel with serious speed in comfort or slightly faster speed in no comfort? no fun travelling fast if you aint comfy or have no navigation to say where you are going is there?? | | | | | Expert

Yeah the car could really lose some weight. The SLR is kind of a car of it's own and I don't know what MB was trying to pull of. Since they didn't went all the way and make the SLR really hardcore and stand higher than all the other super sports cars, I really don't know what they wanted to acheive with the SLR. The car is kind of hanging in the middle like the Murcielago, they both are really fast but not on top of the food chain and they both look really good and that in combination with the first similarity has resulted in them beceoming show off/brag cars. Mb should really come with a DTM version to show the world that they can build great sports car. | | | | | Me for President

to me SL65 is more impressive than SLR. I rather buy a SL65 + another car for the price of one SLR. If I want a car that cost like SLR , I rather choose a CGT. | | | | | Expert

You can buy a SL65 plus another car and put them beside each other but they will never look as good as this: | | | | | Me for President

The car itself looks very impressive
Like this picture for instance.
It even kinda dwarfs the Lamborghini Gallardo parked next to it. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
