yea, but the problem with the SL65 is the only exclusive thing is the badge.......which you could probably buy off ebay....it looks so similar to the SL350 even.....so..hmm.........i dunno....its still a sweet car...but if someone buys an sl65 which is like 3x more than an sl350 then i dunno.....just the only difference is a badge, wheels and a way better engine and the AMG styling, and how many people would notice that? i suppose with the sl350 you could get the 65 wheels, amg kit...etc.
do mercedes still produce the CLK GTR (the like 1 million $ version)? thats a proper super car, that was so good it destoryed the Grand Touring championship it was in as it won every single race in a season so all the other manufacturers were too scared to compete lol, and that was like enzo interior, just carbon fibre etc, no radio

Its funny you mentioned the Gallardo becasue I didn't even notice it was there. That is one of the reasons why people buy the SLR because it's looks are stunning. When it comes through on a road everything else is passe and it simply kills eveything else on the road. The SLR is indeed a piece of art and if MB design department works hard on all their cars like they did with the SLR, then only beautiful cars would come out of their birds nest.
I feel that the SLR has taken alot of beating here but you gotta give it some creds for it's looks. It definetly has one of the most exciting looks every. I remember when the concept was shown at the auto show, Oh boy the car over shadowed every thing else in the building and I'm sure that more than 60% of the members here has had a picture of the car as a desktop bakground. IMO the SLR is a living classic which does look extremly fresh eventhough the concept is 6 years old.

I completly disagree.
SLR, one of the worst thing ever to come out of MB, nor a retro looking tribute to the TRUE 300 SLR, nor an avant garde torughbred like the true SLR WAS.
There is only on true SLR, and that is the 300 SLR.

The SLR might not be as ground breaking performance wise as the 300 SLR but the 300 SLR isn't only concidered a master peice beacuse of it's looks but mostly for it's design. I honestly think that MB has done a great job in making reproducing a ground design wise ground breaking car. Making a car retro looking can very good but also very coward like. There is nothing more respectable than being able to reporoduce a legend in a very modern and appealing way and there aren't many manufacturers who can pull that off but MB did. The SLR is more striking and bold than any other car on the market and millions of people hot blow away when they first saw pictures of it so I really don't understand how you can call it a misstake. The car is design in it's finest form.

I've seen a black SLR and a yellow Enzo driving on the swedish roads. Both cars has presence and the SLR looks better. But watching that yellow Enzo was more exciting than seeing the SLR. Ferrari is always Ferrari so it could be the explanation.

...........and the Enzo is faster which make one think in the head "OMG, it's a freaking enzo" as opposed to the beutiful but not equally as good performing SLR. Eventhough the SLR is an MB, they have manged to make it distinctive enough to make one forget that it is comes from the same family as the A-class.

it has nothing to do with performance. Im addicted to cars so I already know the facts about these two. Its two rare cars and might be the only time I see these two on public roads. Both have presence and noone can take that away from them. However a Mercedes can never be appreciated as a Ferrari in my eyes.
