World's Best Looking SL for 2007 - Designo Edition!

The rare and elusive Mystic White Designo SL55 AMG:

































































This SL is easily in the top 3 SL's I've ever seen. That Black SL65 at the Frankfurt autoshow last year with the black/red interior comes to mind as the only other SL in the same league as this SL55. I can't imainge how this looks in real life!!!

I'm personally not a fan of the car - it doesn't have enough presence in white. Not to mention that hoop behind the seats break the flow of the car.

My perfect SL55 AMG would be black/black. Yes, it's not overly imaginative, but it works. Brilliantly.

I think you still have that Black SL65 from the Frankfurt auto show on the brain, yes it was gorgeous too. Stunning. The SL is arguably Mercedes' best car or and without a doubt their most consistently outstanding vehicle. The W220 and W210 S and E dropped the ball in too many respect compared to the previous R129 SL for them to be considered having stayed true through their respective model range's lifetime.

However, I do agree with you about the colour, I would never choose white for an SL -- the roll-over bar is of course retractable so that's not really a problem.

Hopefully the W221 is end of Mercedes skimping like they did with the W220, W210 and others during the mid to late 90's. This generation SL may not be the tank the R129 was, but it isn't a W220 either. It was near perfect upon introduction and now it arguably comes closer to that goal than any other Mercedes right now, save the W221.

Just came back after a whole day of Italian exams. Bit tired and cranky, so that might explain it.

Merc1, there's a black/black SL55 AMG and a SL65 AMG at my school - they look amazing and there's primarily where I get my love of the black/black combo for the SL.

And yeah, that car in Merc1's avatar looks breathtaking - love those wheels.

I take it this is the SL some of you guys are thinking about?
